Chapter 14
Elite…
I didn’t want to even sit at the same table as Genesis and his girl. Nyoshi damn near dragged me out my room. I was going to eat in my room and then come out when it was time for karaoke. I saw when they walked in the dining room with Naz, up until he sat down at the table that I had for me, my girls and Naz. I didn’t know who gave him the right to sit his ass at my table with his bitch knowing damn well I was going be at the table. I wanted to smack his disrespectful ass.
I stood at the bar an extra ten minutes taking shots of Patron with Major. Trill was out on the deck taking a call. I really didn’t want to rekindle anything with Trill. What we had was fun while it lasted. My heart belonged to only one nigga and that was Genesis’ ole cocky ass. I walked over to the table just as the waiter was coming to get our drink orders. I was feeling a nice buzz from the five shots that I had taken.
I felt Genesis’ eyes on me as soon as I stood near the table. He was undressing me with his eyes right in front of his girl, and the clueless bitch didn’t even seem to notice. I was beaming on the inside. Red was Genesis’ favorite color and he once told me he loved seeing it against my skin. We all sat at the table eating our food. It seemed like everybody ordered soul food. Baked chicken, baked mac & cheese, candied yams, collard greens and so many more dishes.
“So who’s going up on stage first? I want to see who’s going to get booed off,” Naz joked. Everybody looked at me. I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat.
“Well the twins and I are going up first; you know, to get things started,” I said sipping my drink.
“Yea and then E is going to sing alone. I can’t wait to hear her voice. Bae, you’re going to love her voice,” Nyoshi said smiling so damn hard.
“She’s not all that heffa, now you’re making me not want to go up there with Beyoncé mini me,” Dolce said laughing. I giggled at the both of them.
“Do you sing all the time?” Tamara asked looking at me. I shook my head no.
“She sings whenever she’s in the house cleaning or when she’s in the mood. My sister can blow. Wait until you hear her,” Ny-Ny said winking at me. I glanced at Genesis, seeing that he was staring at me. He heard me sing plenty of times and he told me I was real good, but I never wanted to be a singer. I would love for the world to hear my voice and fall in love with me. I just felt like I couldn’t deal with the bullshit that came with being in the spotlight. I mean, I’m kind of in the limelight now.
